Psychotherapy Appointments During The Covid-19 Pandemic
Federal recommendations for re-opening medical facilities to provide non-emergent, non-COVID-19 healthcare states that "Telehealth service, when available and appropriate, continues to be recommended to minimize the need for in-person services."
Consistent with the above recommendation, Dr. Dunfey is providing psychotherapy via telehealth for current clients.
No date for resuming in-office sessions has been announced.
In my psychology practice, the initial consultation and evaluation for a new client requires a minimum of two to four face-to-face meetings in the office. Additional in-office psychotherapy sessions during the early stages of treatment may be necessary in order to determine the clinical suitability of teletherapy for a new client. New client consultations may be scheduled once the state of emergency is lifted and state and federal guidelines for resuming in-office operations can be met without mitigating restrictions.
